Respected Govoner:
As it is my desire to get in to a companey of State malitia and have the promis of a recommendation for aney rank I desire I take the present time to write you a few lines to find out whether it is your desire for to have a cavilry regt raised in the state as State malitia or not if so as I find my strength is failing and I do not think I will bea able much longer for field service it is my desire to get in to a cavilry or an infantry regt as state malitia of Ills if you can do any thing for me in this line I will bea
at your service any time you call on me hopeing to receive a reply I close remaining
