To his Excellency

Richard Yates

Governor

I have examined a long list of names attached to Maj Purdy's petition & appointment of agent & attorney from members of the Miss Marine Bregade & find a large Number from Ills. This bregade haveing been disbanded by maj Genl Canby its members ought in my opinion, to be discharged from the service, and they then be left to their own choice as to their future. Without any personal intrest in the matter, I would respectfully recommend Maj Purdy and the object of his mission to Washington City to your attention I am my dear Sir

Very Truly

Your Obt servt
