Dear Governor
The bearer of this is Mr. Harry B. Hurst of Hillsboro, Montgomery County - He has been with my brother in the Quartermasters Dept., nearly all the time since the commencement of the war - He is thoroughly conversant with this business & now wants to get a commission as Capt. & A Q M. I would be especial gratified if you would give him a letter of recommendation to the Secy of War.
