Several days since in speaking of my future desires to several of my friends here - I mentioned that it was my intention to spend the winter at Mobile in case of its capture & occupation by our forces. It was at once suggested to me that I could get the appointment of "Supervising Special Agent" at that place if I would make the effort. I am this morning informed that there are others applying for it. If you are not committed in favor of some one - and should deem me worthy of the trust I should be glad to have your aid in the matter. If however there be the smallest object in he way of your aid - I hope you will candidly inform me. I trust to see if you soon
