State of Arkansas Mouth of White River October the 4th 1864 Dear Sir it is with great pleasure that I seat myself to inform you my condition I am in a poor condition at this time I have bin a cripple in my hand for six months that I have not done any duty nor not likely to ever be able to do my duty anymore and therefore I wish to be discharged for I have always done my duty as a soldier and my poor old father and mother is too old to work and I don't see how they will do this winter I expect they will have to freeze to death
