   Dr Sir
I looked for Some action on part of Capt. Talmadge as to My (enlistment? )- and a return to My home but thus far, disappointed of all and only Means To live as free as I want honorably I would not mind it. I had a hope you would See him about it.- He certainly must be assured by this time that there is not the Slightest blot upon me, and it don't Seem to Me possible that he would desire to crush one that has always defended this County with fidelity- if you Can accomplish (illegible) or Justice to Me - I will feel unduly bound and grateful
                                        Respectfully Yours
                                                           Tho's H Clark
