Hon Rich Yates

Dr Sir

You will no doubt remember me speaking to you when down here some time ago of my Brothers health but as his health improved some for a short time I did not move further in the matter of his discharge hoping he might be able to serve his time out, but now I feel that he cannot stand it much longer and consequently make it known to you that he is not able for duty now. and has not been so perhaps one eighth of the time since he entered the service and now that your over

Brother is out of the service he feels as I do that if he gets a discharge it must be by influence outside the army

I therefore whould be thankful if you could do something for him and if so you will need his name &c which is Edwin Batty Co A 106 Ills Vol 3 Brig 2d Div of A Corps and is stationed at Pine Bluffs Ark

Yours truly

John D. Batty
