Willetts Point Grant Hosp
October the 16 1864
To your Excelency Gover. Yates
Dear Sir
I embrace the present opportunity to address to you a few lines in order to know if in your power I could not be transferred to my own State and from there receive a furlough home for a short time I have been in the service two years and over and have never been at home since I enlisted I received a wound through my left hip on the 10 of Sept. While in battle in front of Pietersburg and I do not expect to be able to do any duty for some time to come. Most all the other States are transferring their troops to their own respective States and from there they receive a furlough home
And I would feel forever grateful to you if you could grant me this request hoping to have an amediate answer to this I will close.
I have the honor to be very respectfully your Obt" servt.
