Galesburg, Ill Oct 19th 1864
His Excellency Gov Yates Springfield
Dear Sir
Permit me once more to ask your re-newal of my application for the appointment of Asst Com. of Subsistence in the Army.
You recommended me in strong terms to President Lincoln last fall and our mutual friend [illegible] Isaac N. Arnold of Chicago co-operated with you.
One word from you to the President now would secure my appointment.
Please signify your willingness to do so now.
I shall be most happy to hear from you here.
I have been for the last year recruiting in St Louis Missouri Regiments, though my residence is Galesburg, and I wish you should write me here.
Our cause is progressing finely, and Mr Lincoln will be re-elected by a larger majority than ever, and your excellency will be one of our U.S. Senators next winter.
Present my kind regards to [Illegible] Gen. Fuller.
With Great Respect
