An official copy of a communication to you from the Provost Marshall of the 4th Dist Illinois, relative to the murder of Mrs. McFetridge, with accompanying papers has been received. I have caused the information therein contained to be communicated to the Provost Marshall and Police of the Territory so that the man Williams may be arrested if living here, and will promptly furnish you any information which I may obtain.

Some delay has occurred in acknowledging the receipt of the communication owing to my absence from Denver on official business connected with Indian affairs.
