Oct the 24 1864 To the Honerabell R Yeats Govenor of Ill
Dear sir permit me to make the following statement to you abought the last of march last one of my sons was indused to inlist in company H 37 Reg at Ill Vol with a promis of three hundred dollars bounty a few days after his enlisting he was taking by Capton Wagard of Company H 37 Reg Illinois to Memphis and from that time to the present he has been in the serves, for four months he wore the close he left with, a suit that I could not replace for 75$ since that time he has had
milateary clothing. he has not ben musterd in to the serves yet has got no pay nor bounty as yet. this boy is under age and inlisted without my knowledge or consent and has been thus treated the pay master came along and payd all that was musterd in but paid my son not a sent as I had two sons all ready in the serves I think it hard that a boy so young as he should be taking away and treated as he has the two sons I refurd to was in the 102 Reg in company C. as you me see by referring to that company and by thear names are William T Barnes
and Richard B Barnes I want my son back he is too young for the army in my cuntry neaded the serves of boys 17 years old I would not with him but thear is enough to fill up the ranks that is of age I am old and feabel and nead the use of my son I sub mit this matter to your carfull consideration beleaving you will do what is wright.
