His Excellency Richard Yates Gov State of Ills

Sir.

I respectfully make application to you in behalf of the voting members of Illinois Regiments now in the several Hospitals in this city for the privilege of being allowed to go to our respective homes and vote at the forth coming Election in Nov,- for Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson for President and vice-President. Hoping this request may meet your hearty approval, and speedy consideration.

We Having been wounded or contracted sickness in the field fighting traitors. we as loyal members of our proud State now desire the privilege of going to the polls and fighting them [there?]

There is between ninty and a hundred Illinois voters in the hospitals in this city.

We are informed by our surgeons that they only


await orders to send us to our respective homes to vote.
