To Gov. Yates,

Dear Sir. --

It gives me pleasure to bear testimoney to the worth and standing of Lieutenant Wm. Kuhn, one of the 47th Ill. Vol., and member of Gen. Palmer's staff, and bearer of this note. I have for many years known Lieut. Kuhn, as an upright and honorable young gentleman in civil life, and during his military career he has born a high and enviable reputation. Any favor extended toward him would be worthily bestowed. Permit me to introduce to your acquaintance, my friend Lieut. Kuhn.

Respectfully

Enoch P. Sloan, clk,
