We the undersigned citizens of Livingston County, Illinois,-and friends and admirers of the late Lamented "Douglas"-Illinois' gifted Satatesman and Noblest Patriot, Do respectfully-request that in the making of an appointment to fill the unexpired term of the U.S. Senatorship of our deceased Senator, that your Honor will discriminate in favor of the Hon. James C. Allen- Douglas' bosom friend and ardent [illegible] in the [illegible] of our Country & our Countrys Flag,
