Dear Sir

Can I be of any service to you in any position. I have been engaged from 1840 to 1858 in one of Wheeling Banks have acted for a number of years as pension agent for Western Virginia for the United States and resigned it on leaving the State for Illinois I was merchandizing in Atlanta Logan Co for two years also had a store on the line of Petersburg & Tonica RR in Mason Co and for the last year have been a resident of Springfield this Summer was engaged in Messrs N H Ridgely & Co Clearing House for Illinois Bank Notes the latter business being through I am at this time unemployed. My wife prefering to reside in this City where she is established as a Teacher of Young Ladies I would like some position in this city if you need any one of my ability I am willing to be employed in any position you might need require whether temporary or permanently. I can refer you to Hon James C Conkling or Messrs N H Ridgely & Co or Capt John L Bradford
