private Treasury Department Third Auditor's Office, March 23rd 1865 Dear Sir, Will you please send up Alpheus Davidson Esq. The Secy is desirous of gratifying Gov Yates (and please tell him so) and so am I. and therefore hav authorized Mr Davidson's employment, temporarily, [til] a permanent position can be had for him.
