Gov' Yates

Springfield Ills.

Dear Sir

You will see by the enclosed notices that the Loyal Women of Iowa will hold a Convention at Muscatine on the 7th and 8th of October.

Your unflinching integrity, and devotion to the Government, and your generous efforts on behalf of those who are upholding our flag, and defending our free sister [illegible], leads them to invite you to honor them with your presence, as a speaker on the occasion of the Convention.

Illinois and Iowa have a common interest, and they desire that the kindly feeling binding these sister states may be strengthened us with a [illegible] fold card.

Nothing would conduce more to awaken an interest in Sanitary affairs, and connect our feeling of friendship than your words of power and eloquence to the Ladies of Iowa.

Yours Respectfully,

Anna Wittenmyer,

State Sanitary Agent.

P.S. Should you write direct to me at Muscatine Iowa
