Sept 27th. 1863

Hon. Richard Yates,

Dear Sir, It is intended to hold a Union meeting here on the 15th of next month. Hon Mark Bays, Judge E.W. Powell, R.C. Ingersoll and numerous other distinguished speakers have promised to be present. Would it be presuming too much to ask for your attendance? Or if more agreeable, please write us a letter to be read at said meeting. The people in this section greatly admire Dick (excuse me) Yates, and I know it would be very gratifying to them to have a few sentiments from you. Hoping you will not neglect us entirely.

Yours fm the Union
