Jan 20th 1864 Gov. Yates I'm enclosing $5. money rec'd, for which find enclosed receipt for the Journal. Thanks for the [illegible] Should it be in our power to do anything to aid you in satisfying your ambition to represent our [illegible] Illinois in the Senate, rest assured that it will afford me much pleasure. Our first choice for that [illegible]position. has for months been the man who as Governor of our State has done so much for our credit State & National, so much for the cause we all hold most dear, and so much for "Our Boys" in the Army.
