Chicago Ill.

Sept. 5, 1864.

Hon. Richard Yates,

Governor of Illinois,-

I wrote you yesterday, but I have more light to-day. Have been feeling around for the ropes, and think have got hold of most of them.

Wentworth has promised not to oppose me. I am not afraid of Anthony - but shall proceed as though I were.

Pres. Sturdevant is here. The members of Commission appointed by you now in town, have a meeting at Mr. Eddy's office this evening.

Respectfully & truly

Francis A. Eastman
