Dear Gov

Just before I left Chicago for this place, I saw Wash Akers of Joliet He told me that whatever he or Sam Casey or Sam Buckmaster could do for you they were ready & willing to do. Casey will come down to Springfield during the Sess of Legistn & operate in conjunction with your freinds. If you have not already written him I think it well to do so.

Washburn is hard at work. & the real truth is he is useing Gens Logan & Palmer as tools to destract our folks. thinking that when the muss is stired well. He will be the strongest. Doc Brown says he is a going to Sp. to fight you. Chas Philbrick says tell you he has just this morning recd a communication from you & will give it his earliest attention

I shall be at Springfield without fail in good season. and I know, for I feel it in my bones that you are certain of being elected.

My regards to Mrs Yates & all

Truly Yours

Geo I Bergen
