Dear Gov

Yours recd and read with interest. You have no cause for alarm. In my opinion no earthly combinations can defeat you I know of no one hereabouts disafected save Mann, and I have got both Editors of the 'Beacon' after him & Johnson on his back also. I shall go to Chicago tomorrow. Shall stop & see Hopkins & take him to Joliette. See the boys there see that all is right, and go to Aurora & Sandwich to see the boys there on my return I have written Strain. him I can controll though easily bought. I own him. The boys from my district are busy, Talking & writing we have host a little gathering & know our duty. Lansing & Adams & others I have written and mean to see Lansing. Shall do all for you that I would for myself & without hope of reward. Let me know your wishes & anything you want done.

Yours as Ever
