Gov. Richd Yates, Springfield

Dear Sir

Allow me to bring to your kind notice Capt. Langholz of this City, who desires to be appointed drill master of Cavalry at Camp Butler or some other Camp. Mr Langholz was sergeant in the regular army (Cavalry) in Europe and is to my certain knowledge one of the best Cavalry-Officers in this State. Though a german by birth Mr. L. is fully Master of the English language and he would indeed prove a most desirable acquisition. - I know Mr. L. to be a very highly esteemed citizen and a gentleman of character.

Please inform me as to the possibility of his appointment and believe me to be, dear Sir,

Your very obdt servt

Hoffmann

F. A. Hoffmann

Recommending Capt Langholtz.
