Geo. C. Lockwood 30th Regiment I.V.M. is desirous of the appointment as Asst Quartermaster U.S.A. he comes well recommended to me as a gentleman well qualified for this position, he has distinguished himself in the various battles in the South. & West. and has the reputation of being a very energetic & brave man. I have no hesitation in recommending this gentleman for the position and hope you will give this your attention, in doing so you will oblige.
