Wm H Preble of this place enlisted last Jany. in Compy. H. 57th, Regt. Ill. Vols. When the Regt. left Chicago for their Southern destination he was left sick in Chicago and was not provided with either discharge furlough or pass by the proper office. Through the kindness of a friend he got home so soon as able to travel

Mr. Preble is now at this place with his family and is desirous of joining his Regt. but knows no way of doing so and is advised you are the proper person to apply to for transportation
