Dear Sir

About the 21st of March last Abel

B Merchant a musician of the 51st Regt Ills Vol was sent home from Cairo sick by the Surgeon of his Regt without any papers whatever but the promise that they should be sent to him

He has not yet received them and for some time past has wished to join the Regt & with that view several times wrote to his officer for a pass but gets no reply

At his request we now address you asking for him a pass to his Regt as he has not the means of returning at his


command

Whether it is Your practice to grant passes in such cases we do not know but at Mr Merchants request address you as a last resort
