Hon Richard Yates,

Dear Sir,

I take the liberty of applying to you in the hope that you may be able to furnish me with some information as to how I may learn of, and communicate with my son Munroe L, Comman a corporal in Company I, 9th Regt, Illinois Volunteers, who was taken prisoner at the battle of Fort Donellson on the 15th day of February, I learn that he was on the 30th day of March confined at Tuscaloosa Alabama, since which time I have not been able to learn any thing concerning him.

Any information you may be able to give by which I may learn of his whereabouts and how I may communicate with, or send

him any relief he may need, will be most gratefully received by his anxious friends.

I remain Yours truly

L.R. Comman.

Please address, L.R. Comman Stillwater, Minnesota.
