Sir,

The grade of Brigade Surgeon, which I held under Genl Shields Banks and Williams for the past ten months having been abolished by an act of Congress. I have resigned as Brigade Surgeon, and returned home to re-enter the Service of my country among the people of my addopted State. If I can render any Service in the medical department of the Army of Volunteers under your supervision, I will cheerfully respond to your earliest call.

I hold two Commissions, one as assistant Surgeon and one as Brigade Surgeon.
