Dear Govr. Young Sawyer, whose letter to me, I enclose is a young lawyer of Pekin of great promise. He is a son of our friend Josiah, and if you can help him, you will no doubt gratify his friends who are democrats of the right sort. Do it, if you can. I answered the letter by saying I would cordially recommend him to you, as I do.

I only wait to see Mrs Duncan before I can write to you respecting Em Dashiell whom I also wish to serve.

I have paid Service $60 in full of the balc of your note to him, and will advance for you to [illegible] when he next calls $100 in full of your int due 13th inst.

Yours truly

Jas Berdan
