Although a stranger I take the liberty of addressing a few lines to you and without further preface will make known my request it is that you will send me a pass so that I can go to my husband who is sick in Bolivar he has been sick for a long time and ought to have been discharged long ago he belongs to the 96th Reg. Ill Vol has been from home nearly a year he needs my care and I have not the means to go to him and from all that I can learn I fear he will die there unless I can go and take care of him do not in pity do not refuse my request
