My dear Governor

Our friend Judge Norton of Joliet is anxious to have his son appointed a Lieut in one of the Ills regts in order that he may go on my staff. The young man's name is “Martin Morton” & he is now Commissary Sergt of the 100th regt. Can you give him the appt. It will oblige me much.

Will see you in the course of two weeks & shall be glad to have much conversation


with you.
