Govr. Yates

On the 20th of March last, I resigned my position of Adjutant of the 5th Ills. Cav Vols. on account of Rheumatism in my right arm and Shoulder. (contracted by exposure during the month of January on a march from Helena to Clarendon & back.) I have entirely recovered and am anxious to again enter the service. I would prefer a position in the same Regiment but I am willing to go wherever I am needed. I entered the service as a private in Co F. of the 5 Cav. and if nothing better can be done for me I will do it again as I do not feel like staying at home since I have got able to do service.

I am Sir

Respectfully your
