Gov. Richard Yates
Dear Sir,
Alexr. Roberts an old citizen & constituent of mine has a son John Roberts in the 100 Ills. Vol. at Murfreesboro. It is important for him to have a furlow, in order to attend a lawsuit pending in court.
He [illegible] you will write to Col. [Bachlow?] to aid in getting him a furlow for twenty or thirty days. I shall be very glad if you will do this, I hope he may have the furlow, if it can be granted consistently with the public service. He has been in service from beggining of the war.
Very Truly Yours
