M. E. Worrell Allotments Com" & Illinois Sanitary Agent was at Chattanooga on the 25th Nov 1863 I paid him the sum of Seventy Dollars to be transmitted to Springfield thence per Express to my Wife Mrs. Christina Scott Chicago Ill. to day I have a letter from her dated 4th Jany 1864 stating she has never received a Copper of it - would you please inform me what to do in the matter, my family are suffering in this Cold Weather for the want of funds - it is hard for the families of Soldiers to suffer especially in such a inclement season as the present
