J'avais le Plaisir de recevoir votre
Lettre du 15 courant et je suis charmé ainsi
que ma Femme d'entendre que vous
vous portez toutes si bien. Mon Engagement
à Covent Garden a été signé le 4 de ce mois.
En voici les Termes - - la première année à 40 fr.
par Semaine - le 2 à 50 - le 3 - 60 - le 4 -70 et
le 5 - à 80 - ainsi vous voyez que c'est
changé au bien d'être à 60 fr. par Semaine
et pour 3 années c'est pour 5 et en
augmentant à 10 fr par sem. chaque An.
après Septembre. Nous vous avons dit
que ma Mimie était placée dans un
Magasin pendant ma vacance mais j'ai
été afsez heureux d'obtenir un Engagement
au Théâtre Royale de Brighton en Juin
et comme mes appointements seront bons
Mimie y va avec moi. J'ai aufsi écrit
à Monsieur Williams à qui faites bien mes
remerciements.
Brighton est une Ville à peu près comme
Bruxelles et aufsi gaie et l'air là est
le plus pûr de toute l'Angleterre et comme
une vie sédentaire ne sera pas très sain
pour Migue à présent comme elle est afsez
grofse, elle va s'amuser à Brighton.
Dites moi un peu des nouvelles de la
France et de ce Monstre Buonaparte qui
a trop des Amis je crains dans cette ville.
La viande ici est à 10 et 12 sols la Livre
et tout est extrèmement cher.
Vous avez par ce temps sans doute reçue
ma Lettre avec une Copie écrite du Certificat
de notre Mariage du 8 courant et qui
était parti avant que nous avons reçus votre
Lettre.
Dites mon oncle (meus Avunculus)
et mes Belles Soeurs que je les embrafse
ainsi que ma femme. Comme elle n'avait
pas le temps aujourd'hui de vous écrire ses
longues histoires et le Monsieur qui mettera
cette Lettre dans la Poste part, il faut
attendre quelques jours pour votre Réponse
qui j'espère est sur le chemin.
Dites Mr Williams que j'ai acheté deux
de ses Portraits, un petit et l'autre grand.

Madam and Friend
I had the Pleasure of receiving your
Letter of the 15th and I am charmed as is
my Wife to hear that you
are all doing so well. My Engagement
at Covent Gardent was signed on the 4th of this month.
Here are the Terms: the first year at 40 francs
per Week - the 2nd at 50 - the 3rd - 60 - the 4th 70 and
the 5th at 80 - so you see that it is
changed for the better to be at 60 francs per Week
and for 3 years it is for 5 and
growing at 10 fr. per Week each Year
after September. We have told you
that my Mimie was placed in a
[Shop? - perhaps different meaning at the time - shelter?] during my vacation but I have
been lucky enough to obtain an Engagement
at the Royal Theater of Brighton in June
and as my appointments [terms of appointment] will be good
Mimie is going there with me. I have also written
to Mister Williams, to whom please give my
thanks.
Brighton is a city nearly like
Brussels and as gay and the air there is
the purest in all of England and as
a sedentary life will not be very healthy
for Migue at present as she is rather
pregnant, she is going to amuse herself at Brighton.
Tell me some of the news from
France and of this Monster Bonaparte who
has too many Friends I fear in this city.
Meat here is 10 or 12 sous a pound
and everything is extremely expensive.
You have by this time doubtless received
my Letter with a written Copy of the Certificate
of our Marriage of the 8th and which
was sent before we received your
Letter.
Tell my uncle (my Uncle [Latin])
and my sisters-in-law that I embrace them
as does my wife. As she did not have the
time today to write you her
long stories and the Gentleman who will put
this letter in the Mail is leaving, it is necessary
to wait a few days for your Answer
which I hope is on its way.
Tell Mr Williams that I have bought two
of his Portraits, one small and the other large.
Give our compliments to all of our friends
who ask after us
and I am in the meanwhile
