Sir:
Excuse my boldness in asking a favor of a stranger I am a young man was admitted to the bar at the last session of our Supreme Court The profession is nearly dead in this part of the State and what little is doing is doing is in the hands of Southern Sympathizers
I will be under many and lasting obligations to your Honor if you will procure or use your influence in procuring me a position of some kind even at a low salary. If references are required I can refer you to the Hon E Beecher of Fairfield, Col John E Whiting
