To His Excelency Gov Yates
Dr Sir
E. W. Townsend of this County, has a Son in the 36 Regt of Ill volunteers Co A. who was wounded in the battle at Murphreesboro and is now in Camp Denison Ohio in Ward No 7, his name is Milton S. Townsend, it will be a long time before he will be able to do military duty, and he wishes to get him home untill he recovers. he wished me to write you on the subject and see if you could not help him. If he can get him home I will guarentee he will return as soon as he is able If you can help him or give me information how he can get discharged till he gets better you will Much Oblige him
