My Dear Sir: Your kind favor of the 25th has been received for which please accept my warmest regards.
I notice, by the bill which has passed the House you have the power to appoint surgeons. I desire, still, to be considered an applicant for the post of Surgeon of one of the Regiments in Illinois. Should you deem it proper to give me a commission I should prefer a Chicago Regiment
