Dear Sir;

I recommend to you for appointment of Brigade Surgeon, Dr. Harvey C. Johns of Decatur. If you are acquainted with the Dr., I need hardly say to you that he is a gentleman of ability and influence. He is one of our most prominent and responsible citizens, and is well qualified for the position herein indicated.

I should like very much to see the Dr. appointed, and have no doubt he would be, upon a strong recommendation from yourself to the proper Department. I hope you will apply at once.
