Our friend Dr H. C. Johns of your place has been spoken of in connection with the appointment of Brigade Surgeon. I [need?] hardly say to you, who know him well, that he would make an excellent officer, and is one of the kind of man that ought to be remembered. I should like much to see [you?] him appointed, and doubt not, that a strong letter from you to the Department at Washington would Secure it. I hope you will interest yourself in the Drs. behalf.
