The 18th Regt. Ills. Vols. was mustered 28th May 1861. companies at that date had not all maximum number. In a few days twenty four men more were enlisted by Commanding Officer of the Regt. but not regularly mustered until 30th June 1861. They are here with non veterans of the Regt. for muster out but Provost Marshal General Oakes has ordered them back to Little Rock to await Expiration of their time 30th present Month. Please order them Mustered out now or on duty here until 30th and save useless expense & time going to and from Little Rock.
