Hon. Dr. Sir;
We are merchants in this place; there are several persons in Springfield Ills. who have Enlisted and their families are left destitute, we understand that they can not get mustered into the United States Service or get discharge, but have been there for Several months without pay or boundy
It is wrong to leave their families in this situation, and compell them to stay there we have supplied their families consirerable and wish on their acct, and also for our own, to have the men discharged or paid.
Hoping to hear from you, and hoping that you will be able through your influence to see that the men have justice.
