To His Excellency Richard Yates
Govener of Illinoise
Dear Sir
allow me to inform you that I have this day been reliably enformed that there is a regular organized band of Cessionist in the adjoining to ours [illegible] Jackson County and that a few days ago they marched through the Steets of Murfeysborough under a Cecession flag - thirty five in number - The names can be obtained by addressing Judge George McCleere Duquoin of if necessary I will go and obtain the names of all that
there seem marching under the flag - Tom Logan a [illegible] to John A Logan was one of the principle leaders.-
There is a nother band of cecessionist some 12 miles north east of here in Jefferson Co The names of principle leaders can be given when called for - can not some of the Boys stop attend to them and take them along to Cairo. There is meschef a brewing among them There are a plenty of men here that woud attend to them ded they know that they were autherized.
