Hon Richard Yates,
Dear Sir,
On Mr Raymonds return from Springfield, he inquired of me, if I had received any communication from your Excellency in regard to a position with yourself. On learning I had not heard from you he gave me the substance of a conversation he had with you in regard to me.
I am just now not engaged in business, and being quite confident of my ability to give you satisfaction in any business or clerkly capacity, at Mr Raymonds suggestion, I take the liberty of addressing you.
I can give the best of references in regard to my steadiness and capacity, in addition to Mr Raymond, Hon W. H. Brown, Hon. I. H. Dunham, C. B. Farrell, Esq & many others. Very Resp'y
Your Obdt Servt
