E. M. Haines to Richard Yates

Waukegan Lake Co. Ill July 21, 1864

Dear Sir:

We are a large number of soldiers belonging to Ills who have lately been transferred from Ky. Hospital to Jefferson Barracks, Mo. Among them are several from Lake County. These men I am informed, all wish to be transferred to some Hospital in their own State. I speake particularly for those from Lake County. They wish to be transferred to Chicago and I desire to have it done if possible. Can you do us the favor to interest yourself in their behalf & endeavor to have the transfer made.

I have not the names of all the men, or their Regt. but will try & get it. I wish you could move in the matter at once.
