Dear Mrs Yates.

Mother wishes me to write and tell you of a picnic or rather an excursion which they are going to have to Green Bay. Mother has been very much engaged with getting it up and is very anxious that it may be a success. It is for the benefit of the Ladies Soldier's Aid Society---and is to come off next Thursday. They leave here at ten o'clock in the morning in the cars.

The tickets to go on are good for a week and we can return any time within four weeks. I believe. We are going to take tents along and "camp out" and have as good a time as possible.

Mother wishes very much to have you and the Governor and children go with us. She thinks it will be very pleasant and hopes you can go it will afford her the greatest pleasure possible to have you go. She was sorry that Katie didnot come up with Capt Sherman but was hoping that perhaps she might come. she would have sent Sally down if it had not been such warm weather. Sally is crazy to see Katie and mother is afraid won't be satisfied to return to school until she does see her. If you can not leave now perhaps you will let Katie go with us we will endeavour to take good care of her. We sincerely hope that you will all go. Mother is waiting for the letter to mail. With much love to all I remain
