Dear Sir: I am in informed that my friend, I Y Ralston Esqr, who has been engaged in the Quarter masters Department at Davenport, will be an applicant for staff appointment in one of your regiments.
I take great pleasure in speaking of him as an old and valued friend and one who had wielded the pen with marked ability and profit to our cause in Illinois. His fortunes are now identified with your noble State & I would be highly gratified if you can in any way advance his interests.
