Description
Visiting Chicago for the dedication of the Outer Drive Bridge, President Roosevelt used the opportunity to deliver a speech on foreign policy. Known as the "Quarantine Speech," he called on all peace loving nations to condemn and isolate the aggressive nations. Although he did not name the aggressors, he was clearly talking about Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, and Imperial Japan. Roosevelt, the thirty-second president of the United States (1933-1945), was elected to four consecutive terms, instituted "New Deal" legislation to help pull the country out of the Great Depression, and led the country through the Second World War.
