Hon. Richard Yates
Will you be so good as to inform my Brother what was said or done with my applicant as Medical Examiner when you went to Washington. There are Soldiers home who are sick and disabled so much so as to prevent their return to their Regiments or Hospitals. Many such apply to me for extension and I examine their case and give them a Certificate of Disability and also send one to the Regiment or Hospital where they came from setting forth the facts in regard to their cases. This is as it should be as it must be apparent to any one who will reflect for a moment upon the matter. But yet I would feel better satisfied to act officially in the matter. The word has gone through all this region that I attend to such matters for the Soldiers - and hence the Lame, the Sick and Debilitated Soldier calls upon me for examination And in doing so I endeavor to act in good faith to the Government as well as the Soldier G. W. Stipp Md Inspector of the U.S.A. who is here now and who sees the great importance of this matter asks my appointment.
Please let me hear from you in regard to the subject. And you will oblige Your Henry Conkling
