My dear Sir
Sometime Ago, I wrote you from Galesburg Ill whilst I had been canvassing the Northern part of our State with our esteemed friend, Col. Clark E. Carr Post Master at Galesburg. You remember you recommended Me last winter to President Lincoln for the appointment of Asst. Com. of Sub.
You have only now to say the word and the commission will forthwith issue.
I wish you would at once communicate with his Excellency. Your position as U.S. Senator this Winter will aid me materially in procuring the office I desire _ Your Kind offices in My behalf will place me under lasting obligations to you. I was sorry I could not be present at Monmouth, when you made your great Speech there.
Our friends here
are all well and send their kind regards to you. I should be pleased to hear from you.
With Great Respect
Sincerely
Your friend
Diogenes Wetmore
